Letter from the Treasurer:
Hello everyone,
I wanted to send and update on funding for SITREP, so that people can know how it is going.
We started this process as a group of 8 families matching each other $5,000 to pay for a 16-hours a day, 7 day a week security patrol for 3 months to break the cycle of crime in our neighborhood. By becoming harder and more engaged targets, we hope to change habits and have criminals go elsewhere. Our cost for a 16-hour a day monthly service is $15,240 and our cost for an 8-hour day month is $7,800.
We currently have 110 families contributing either seed money to help establish services and/or a monthly contribution to keep them going long-term. Over 30 families have contributed seed money, 25 of those are putting in monthly as well. Monthly commitments are over $11,000. Our board chose to look for $100 a month from families, so that we could establish the minimum patrol service in a shorter amount of time and discuss things beyond that as they become viable. We currently have 16 hours a day, well-funded into the future with monthly contributions and seed money and hope that $100 a month for that presents value to families. We have been taking both seed money contributions to get things going and monthly contributions to establish things long-term. Anything is great.
We currently have about $75,000 in seed money remaining and received monthly checks in April for $8,500. All commitments to seed money have come in and we are still hoping to see 20 more monthly commitments come in, as we go. If we begin seeing all our monthly commitments, we will be about $4500 a month short of the 16-hour cost and rundown seed money after 17 more months. We continue to look into cameras that will integrate with the security company. Those seem to cost somewhere around $10,000 each.
160 families contributing $100 a month would pay for 16 hours of service and we have 10 families contributing more than that, bringing that number down. If families would like to contribute please send funds to the Olde Stockdale Property Group at 8200 Stockdale HWY M-10, PMB 219, Bakersfield Ca. 93311. Our personal mailbox is 219 and so if it is not on the payment the payment is going to the UPS Store itself. I can also take instruction to set up automatic payments by credit card and check, as well as Venmo to Olde Stockdale Property Group. If you are sending funds via Venmo please let me know, particularly if your username is not your own name. Any automatic payment or annual payment is appreciated as it reduces accounting time.
We had several families join in the last number of days and I would like to thank them. We appreciate the Anton, Bittleston, Celedon, S. Ekegren, J. Ekegren, J. Edegren, Eschner, Fernandez, Fortune/Beretta, W. Long, McCormack, and Vaughn families for wanting to participate. Edyta is working on a tab for donations, on our website. We will have all information about the campaign and forms one could use to set up automatic payments with us. Please visit us at oldestockdale.com.
I thank everyone for their help! It is great to talk with everyone about getting this going. We started with 8 families getting 3 months of service going and in our second full month we had enough families pay monthly to cover more than half of the month, with good assets in reserve. We feel that $3.50 a day for 16 hours a day in patrol service presents value to families and hope for families to consider joining.
If you have questions, please don’t hesitate to call. I will be off in the forest camping with kids 5/14-5/17 and may have a difficult time with messages but will be back Sunday.
All the best,
Tim Werdel
